Dust attraction and durability... Zaino vs BFII vs Klasse twins

I've used zaino for a long long time and always despised how much it attracted dust and everything else to the car.... 5 minutes after QD'ing, washing or whatever there would be dust all over it.... I did love how the zaino looked, and how it lasted after rain/snow/washes and kept its shine and smoothness... I hated all the steps and zfxing though.

I switched to blackfire II and it seems to attract dust about the same as the zaino... plus the first rain/snow we got seemed to kill the BFII...... its no where near as shiney and the surface is very rough, towels dont glide over the car and the blackfire wash and QD doesnt seem to change this any. The BF also seems to allow the paint to mar very easily... something I never had problems with the zaino.

I'm thinking of swapping back to zaino... or trying out Klasse. I was always scared of using klasse because of the difficulty in removing the SG...but now I'm not so intimidated with the introduction of the BillNorth WOO method.

How does Klasse compare to zaino as far as durability of the shine/gloss, durability of the paints smoothness, and its dust attraction? especially because my car is not garaged and its a daily driver.

I can't wait to have a garage one day so I can try using a real wax lol

I have found Klasse to attract way less dust than Zaino.

But SG was a PIA to work with for me, I will never use it again as it was impossible to get off [ and I tryed the 1 hour method/ 2 hour method/ and overnight method], each way the Klasse was cement] ; I did not try the WOO method, I am personally skeptic. Also, Klasse lost its slickness real FAST, under a month for me, whereas Zaino stays slick for a really long time. Both look good, but Zaino stays that way longer for me.

I am often perplexed by the Zaino dust attraction. I have found using FD over Zaino to help with the dust situation, which I don't understand either.

On a side note, I have found NXT to dust just like Zaino. And S100/P21s resists the dust and dirt better than anything I have used.

While I'm usually the antithesis of mixing products together, try applying SG over Z and see if that helps. Personally, I find Z to attract no more dust than other products.

Ya know .. I'm sitting here reading this and thinking .. I have Zaino on mine ( Black B5.5) .. used Glanz some last year and prior to that was a #26 fan from day one .. I found that #26 for me collected dust a lot more for the first 2 weeks after waxing than Zaino did/does. Maybe its the relative humidity in the area your in or a problem with static dispersion.

most likely you are correct... I'm in new mexico which is a relatively dusty state to begin with.... the dry air probably doesnt help.

sigh

I switched from Klasse to Z about two years ago. Still keep it around and just put it back on one of my cars to test out BillNs application. Man, that system does make SG much more enjoyable!

As far as durability for the shine it holds up well to Z, but not quite as good, as with everything here, my opinion.

Smoothness, Klasse can only compete with Z until the first wash. My paint always became squeaky clean afterward. This was probably the main reason for sticking with Z, for me. I just have to have a slippery feel. With a QD, Klasse became slick again. You should not have the same QD results as with your BFII.

If you don't do the topper then I think dust attraction is about the same.

Since you have tried Z, why not try the WOO method? It brings a whole new experiance to SG. I will probably keep Klasse on the one car and apply SG each weekend, just because I like to do it.

On my first real detailing job (my car) I used the Klasse twins. I got directions from Wayne of waynestowels and he said the secret was to put on a very thin layer, which I did. I did the entire car, then I went back and buffed it off with a MF.

All that to say, that a first timer like myself had no problems because of forums like this where people share their knowledge, in this case he told me to mist the product on the pad. I believe that is the key and because of that experience I find the WOO method credible.

Sounds like I might end up topping NXT w/ P21S if dust becomes a problem. Guess I'll wait and see what my observations are.

My thoughts on Klasse, Zaino and P21S pretty much mirror your observations l7avis. In addition to what you mention, I have found KSG to be superior to Zaino when it comes to dust attraction. Not by much, but there is a slight difference. Also, with the WOO method or the two-towel method, application and removal are significantly easier. But on the downside, like you mention..... it loses slickness and stops beading within a month or two. Zaino is easily the best when it comes to maintaining its "freshly applied" properties....especially if one uses Zaino's shampoo and QD.

One thing that *I* have found to reduce Z's dust attraction is to apply it ultra thin. Heck, I thought I was applying it thin before (2 coats/half ounce), but I tried applying it even thinner!.....So thin it was hardly visible under intense garage lighting and removal was about as easy as Pinnacle Souveran or P21S. When removing Z, if I find that I need to use any bit of extra effort, I get some static on the paint surface...primarily on the plastic areas like the bumper. It's something I can feel when I put my arm close to the surface as the static forces tickle my arm-hairs. IMO, this static is what causes the dust attraction. Now, when I remove Z after applying it according to my new definition or paradigm of thin layers, very little effort is required to remove the product. Hence, a lot less friction and buffing is going on and I find very little static on the paint and subsequently a lot less dust attraction after applying a layer or two.

BTW, I agree with you on P21S. It's pretty remarkable how well it REPELLS dust.

I always thought/read carnuba waxes attracted more dust than synthetics

Isn't Z6 anti-static? It's said to eliminate dust attraction from Zaino.

Winners Choice anti-static polymer finishing cream is supposed to be 'anti-static' , it looks very good and lasts a long time.

Especially after a Z7 wash a few days after application of the polish (Z2 / Z5). Seems to nullify any static electricity produced by buffing. I also only use MF's that are static-free (not recently removed from dryer).

I've got a test car sitting out front in the driveway. Did it with the Klasse twins, SG applied the with the patented "foxtrapper WOWOR" method back in November. That's two coats of SG applied back to back (Wipe On, Wipe Off, Repeat). Zero maintenance since. If it rains, the car gets the salt and dirt rinsed off. Car lives on a farm, and the roads are salted heavily for winter snow.

Finish is still excellent on all areas of the car. Dirt is not sticking to the car, it can simply be wiped away. Car still shines like the bouncing frog here under the grime. I am *very* impressed with how well the finish is holding up.
