vector circular polisher

I picked up this polisher last night (Thursday) from auto-zone for about 50$. Then I found out that CMA said it was a very good polisher for the money. I also bought some of the cheap foam applicators and bonnets last night as well. Let's just say this polisher made short work of them. Today I went to Car Quest and picked up a velcro backing plate, and some foam pads. The are all 3M. The backing plate cost as much as the polisher. But I lucked out and the salesman said "this stuff is way to expensive. and it hardly moves." I got a great hookup from the guy when all was said and done. I'm new at using this thing, I don't even own a DA, don't think I'll even bother at this point. It was a bit intimidating at first but this polisher has a lot of the same stuff as the much more expensive PC, DeWalt, Makita, etc. The lowest speed is about 500 RPM thenup to 3000. The price is low because they are made in China. But it does have an 11 AMP motor. It has the standard size threads for attaching the backing plate. Even if it only lasts a few years I can go through 4 of them for the cost of a name brand polisher. I used it on my 94 miata and it turned out awesome, I'll try to get some pics soon.

I'm thinking these cheaper rotaries are just the thing for us average joes with one or two cars, that we might use the tool on once a year. I have one on order from Harbor Freight. Thanks for relating your experience.

Hey, thanks for the review! I'm gaining more confidence in cheaper polishers like that and I think I'll order one today.

Check out the review at Classic Motoring Accessories. I'll be quite honest I know you all use the word cheap in this instance to refer to the price, but trust me, when you open the box it doesn't look cheap, nor does it feel or run cheap. Now the back plate supplied with it, that's another story. It is quiet also.

Here's another interesting economy rotary from Eastwood, http://www.eastwoodco.com/itemdy00.a...3322&Dep_Key1= :

ATD 7in 1000/3000 rpm Shop Polisher
Has both the side and loop handles and doesn't have the hand guard like the Vector and its varients.
