Join Date: May 2003 Location: canada Posts: 271 | Clearkote Carnauba Wax-Help Scott I was reading about this product and it says Expect 6 months protection is this true, I mean this is great for a Carnauba Wax would'nt you agree.
A Carnauba that gives the long protection of a polymer, am I right?
Can someone tell me a little about this product, I know Scott uses Clearkote stuff maybe he can chime in.
I will get my wife to call them and place a order, I work long hours 12 a day but that is life
I am planning on ordering:
Carnauba Wax
Vanilla Moose
Moose Wax
Are they similar to each other , would you leave something behind or get all

Also, you can order online at www.clearkote.net

As much as I like the look of Carnuba Moose Wax, the combination of Clearkote's petroleum based wax and carnuba doesn't seem to be any more or less durable than S100 which is a more straight carnuba based wax. You are going to get on average (depending on car color, enviromental factors, etc) about 6-12 weeks max of protection from any carnuba, no matter what else is added to it. | The search function is your friend!

Is the vehicle's paint a light color, medium color or dark color?
Are you in the "sunbelt" or the "snowbelt?"
Are you inland or near the ocean?
Is the vehicle garaged?
What environment is it in? (urban, suburban, rural)
Do you park in full sun, partial sun or shade?
What are the road conditions (asphalt, concrete, gravel, dirt) that contribute to paint contamination?
How much road salt and sand is used in the winter?
How often is the vehicle washed?
I have detailed cars that are maintained so well that even after a harsh winter, the paintwork beads like crazy ... and I have detailed cars only to see them completely trashed in just a week!

I regularly wash (weekly) two black S-class Mercedes (an S500 and an s55) in the same neighborhood on the same day and they both work in offices next to a freeway. The S55 will bead for almost 3 months with S100 or Carnauba Moose and the S500 will bead 4-6 weeks max. Drives me nuts! A 1995 Lexus LS400 (tan) that I wash every two weeks has gone 4 months with S100 and 3 1/2 months with Carnauba Moose before rewaxing and both were still beading very nicely. I also wash his brother's Tahoe (now he has an Escalade) at the same time and I had waxed it with Final Polish when he got it March and when he sold it last month, it was still beading very well....and in fact, his Suburban he had before would bead a full 6 months with S100 or #26. Go figure

Join Date: May 2003 Location: canada Posts: 271 | Thanks for your replies fellows , I understand that Vanilla Moose and Moose Wax only last on average 90 days, but I am thinking that you guys misunderstood me, maybe not but the stuff I'm refering to is there NEW CARNAUBA WAX wich I found on there INLINE STORE and not on the main page, it sells for 18$ a Pint and that is the one that says EXPECT 6 MONTHS PROTECTION.
Are we all talking about the same stuff, I 'm hoping we are not because 6 months sounds soooooo gooooood
Talk to you later

I was suprised to see the words "expect 6 months protection" also because in addition to the carnauba, it has the same petroleum based wax that regular Moose Wax and Vanilla Moose have and Moose Wax has a manufacture's expected durability of 90 days (which in an area with no acid rain or industrial fallout it will last that long). Maybe I'll use a section of my car to test once and for all how long it will last, at least under Dallas conditions.
