Paint touch-up with Auto Sharp Pen

I ordered a touch-up pen from Auto Sharp Pen (autosharppen.com). Urethane paint is held in a barrel and automatically dispensed through a fine felt tip. It arrived and I must say the paint match is INCREDIBLE! The stuff that I got from the Mercedes dealership is rubbish. The pen was easy to use and covered the scratches, and I’ve touched up all of the little stone chips, a great handling product and I think the best result that an amateur like me could expect without refinishing the damaged areas. I shall now have to get one for my girlfriend’s Volvo. Excellent product.

I'd thought about buying both, but wanted to make sure it did what they claimed first before investing $40.

I will buy the clearcoat pen next.

I had similar results from touch up pens from www.paintscratch.com. My paint (Mustang Laser Red) is a 3 stage metallic, pearl paint so I had to lay down a base, color coat and clear and the match was exact. The only problem I have with touch up pens is that after the first use and you put them away, when you go to use it again they are clogged and lumpy. You no longer have much control over the paint. I found myself dabbing the pen on a piece of cardboard and using a toothpic to apply. I don't think I would buy the pens again. I recently bought the same paints from www.paintscratch.com but, this time in the traditional little bottle with the brush in the cap.

I laid mine down as they suggested and had no problem second or third time use. Could be the type of paint maybe.

Did you get any paint blobs that needed to be sanded to remove/level?

Yes I did, but only when I put too much pressure on the pen, but I removed them with swabs. The only one I missed that had set up I sanded (holed punched sandpaper and clued to a pencil top eraser)

Hope this helps
