Mosca:

You've indicated before (elsewhere) that you seem to like the overall appearance of Pinnacle. Now that you've topped with #26 how do they compare? .

I'm also going to try to corner you on what differences you see between Pinnacle (since you seem to like it) and the Megs method you're showing. I know it's hard to pinpoint differences, but are you seeing more reflectiveness in one over the other - or does one seem deeper and slicker (ie: less reflectivity)?

I can clearly see the Pinnacle appearing more reflective, but photos aren't always a decent judge (particularly taken months apart, different light, etc). The #20 images look far deeper and have that "glow" you mentioned

The reflectivity issue has been mentioned with dark cars before, where a finely detailed paint is superb but the reflections overcome the color. I'm not sure which is better myself, just curious about your impressions.

Clever license plate by the way -- shall I order an F4U4 plate for mine?

Wow, great shots Mike...

So how would this work:

Dawn
Clay
Wash
#20
#16 or #26

Can #20 be substituted for #7 and also be called a more durable polish intended for paints in great shape?

I would skip the Dawn wash, detergents are too harsh to wash automotive paints with. Use a premium car wash specifically formulated for safely cleaning automotive paints.

No, not really. You could substitute another polish for #7, but not a polymer wax.

Hope this helps...

Vulturetec,

I'm going to say that I see very little difference. Not that there isn't any, but I honestly have no preference for one over the other. The combination of #20 and #26 has almost as much depth as the Pinnacle, but to make up for the difference, it's more reflective. Both are very alluring.

I agree that the pictures don't capture the difference in appearance. They both look like shiny cars. This picture shows somewhat the extra reflectivity of the #20/26; it's hard to get that secondary reflection you see in front of the wheel on a non-clearcoat finish; that's the extra kick of this combo:

F4U4... maybe on a Corvette? Speed and brute force.... I'd super or turbo the Miata and get N1K2, or KI 93....

Tom

Those blue Porsche pics look really nice!!!

How durable is #20 and #26 individually in actual protection and in gloss/slickness (since it seems like some protection is still present despite loss of appearance)? Does a #26 topper prolong the #20? Can anyone who has used both #26 and S100 describe any differences? And if you used SEC, would the cleaners in #20 be sufficient to ensure bonding or should we wash the car first?

Mosca, I really like that last pic with the combo! There is definite depth and wetness to it.

With your previous two pics with Souveran and with #20, the appearances in lighting, etc. must be playing tricks because I would expect the opposite effect. Your Souveran pic looks more reflective (which I would expect more from a polymer) and the #20 pic looks more dark like a carnauba but it does look somewhat plasticky like a polymer?

Iceman,

the pics are inadequate. Sometimes I can get them to show what I see, but nuances of shine often elude digitalization, especially in comparisons.

But, I'm sitting here in my garage (I moved the laptop out to the workbench!), looking at it, and thinking that this might be the nicest shine I've ever put on my car. It really does look like Mike's Porsche pictures, but in red, and of course right next to me.

Oh yeah, and a Miata instead of a Porsche; that, too.
