So Tim, does your #20 smell pleasant, or nasty? Mine smells nasty. I am thinking that it would be worth my while to try some of the new stuff.

I just smelled my #20 and I do not find it bad smelling at all! Perhaps, you should try another bottle of it. You know that I am a huge fan of #20 as I have mentioned to you many times and I really can not figure out why you are getting different results (compared to me)?

I think I am going to go to a Lordco and sniff some #20 this weekend! I can just see the clerks now!

It's not going to replace my Klasse, but might be a nice one step. I'll let you know how it goes.

BTW, Tim, I think we get similar results, I think. But the durability is not as good for me. It could be that I was not giving it enough dwell time to dry. Time to experiment a bit, I think.

Hey Gary,

I always leave my #20 sit for about 15-20 minutes before wiping it off. From my understanding, this should be long enough for it to bond properly.

I know what you mean about the clerks at Lordco. They know that I am very particular about getting sealed bottles. One local store (not Lordco), seems to always have open unsealed bottles that are missing a fair amount of product. I have a feeling that a stock boy is getting a few "samples"!! I now have to tell the store when I order a product that it must come in sealed or I will not accept it. It is also a safety issue. I did have a couple of problems with Lordco and old stock. You may want to check and see how old the product is before you buy it.

LOL about Lordco, most of the time, I bring up something, and they won't know the price, and it takes 20 minutes to get it rung up. They're always asking me, "What's this for?" Knowledgeable staff, huh?

How long do you find #20 lasts? I have a co-worker who wants a durable one step sealant available locally. Probably will be used only twice per year, if that, so durability is a key. I mentioned #20 or Mother's Reflections. I think both have mild cleaner agents but I'm not sure if the Mother's is available here? I've only seen the Mother's cleaner wax.

Or do you have another suggestion for an easy-to-use one step durable product? I mentioned S100 for the ease of use and superior looks despite no cleaning action but the durability (or lack thereof) was a liability.

Hi Iceman,

I have used #20 for many many years and love it! I have not had durability issues with it like Gary; but neither of us know why that is the case either.

In my case, I believe that I am getting several months of protection. (Also, the cleaners in #20 are very mild.) To me, #20 is an excellent product for those looking for durability and shine/gloss!

Mother's Reflections is not available in Canada. I emailed Forrest from Mothers and asked why that was. Apparently, there are issues, one of which is labeling.

Thanks Tim, do you use this as your base sealant under S100? And if you have used SEC before #20, did you need to Dawn wash first or are the cleaners in #20 sufficient to clean away the oils to enable adequate bonding? And any problems staining black trim?

Any particular wash and QD you find work well with #20?

I might get some myself to try on my beater!

Re: Reflections-must be the lack of French labelling that prohibits the sale in Canada. Same reason the Langka based chip repair isn't available here.

Hey Iceman,

Meguiar's #20 has always been my sealant before any topper whether S100 or Meg's #26. I do not use the Dawn wash very often as a cleaner/compound will clean the paint of any remaining wax. If a person does not want to use a cleaner/compound first, then the cleaners in the #20 "may" be enough to allow bonding of the product to the surface especially if the previous waxing routine was only twice per year (ie. there probably isn't any wax left anyway!). Otherwise, a person could use the Dawn wash and strip any remaining wax off. I just do not use it as I always pre-clean the paint I am working on.

My favourite QD is Meg's #34 Final Inspection. I use it for everything! I use Meg's #62 Carwash Shampoo & Conditioner as the wash. It is my favourite, followed by #00 and Gold Class in that order.

As to the Reflections, I do believe that it is the dual language labelling that is causing the trouble! It really annoys me as there are many other great products that we can not even buy here because of that issue!!!

Really? I swore I saw Chip Repair in Canadian Tire's special order catalog and thought I had them quote me $35 or something for it.... This was last year, mind you.

I did see Hot Wheels in the catalog this year though.
