Hot Rod Detailer is amazing, and so is Speed Demon! They do leave a VERY slick and streak-free finish. I'm out of both of them right now. I've considered buying some OID instead though based on my experience with OCW and Opti-Clean. Opti-Clean works well as a quick detailer when diluted as well.

Actually I have both fk425 & OID - I prefer the fk425 on my white car because it's pink in color and I can see where I sprayed the product - haha. IMO they are both great products and you won't go wrong with either. FWIW, my brother and I did a blind test between those two and Adams Detail Spray and neither one of us could see a difference between the three products. However, if scent is important I would urge you to try the AdamsPolishes Detail Spray. Simply wonderful and blows the other two out of the water in that area. If your looking at the cost of the product, OID wins hands down which matters on consumerables that get used on a high volume basis. Regarding looks, to my eyes difficult if not impossible to tell the difference between all three of these quality products.

Something smells better than FK425?!? Well, OK, M34 is right up there with it...but the OID is *better*? What does its scent remind you of?

The Adams Detail Spray smells like tropical fruit. Very pleasant but strong odor. When the boss pulls into the garage, she can always tell when I wiped down the car.

Someone mentioned HD Final Touch in comparison to FK425. Finally can add something!! Hah! When first tried Final Touch it was the best QD id used, next to the mystery purple Pez scented stuff I cant find anywhere... I used up most of a gallon and saw FK425 go on sale so I bought a gallon of that, largely to investigate the antistatic claims, since I live on a dirt road.

Final Touch was a much slicker QD than most id tried, but FK425 goes on like baby oil. I havent really tried different levels of dillution but it can streak. Ive found that it is especially sensitive to the type of towel you use. A deep nap really helps, where as I usually dont use too plush a towel for QDs because they seem to smear more for me. Any troubles with application are minor compared to the slick feel and great shine. Its great for stretching a coat of wax out for a lot longer than I would have thought. Plus, who doesnt like bubble gum?

I agree with yourgrandma that fk425 is fussy when it comes to towels. I haven't tried cutting it - suggestions for dilution rate?

I'm always interested to hear when FK425 misbehaves for people....just never did that for me except for when I used it on a wax (as opposed to a sealant).

Hmmm...I could end up going either way on that one. Funny sometimes, the scents I do/don't like...

BTW Accumulator, what I meant about "fussy" regarding the fk425 is sometimes it needs a third wipe. 1x to put it on, 1x to buff and sometimes a third and final buffing to get rid of any streaking. But....I really really like the stuff. Do you use it full strength or are you cutting it with water? Regarding fragrance, I'm famous for my lack of smell so u know it's pretty potent when I can actually tell it's scented. The Adams Detail spray smells good actually but I tried Duragloss 901? car shampoo and that had a very strong cherry odor that I couldn't live with - haha. So go figure. I had some Zymol carnauba back in the day (before they were bought by Turtle Wax) and that had a very nice smell - again a fruity odor if I recall. When it comes to scented products; if there is a smell, I would simply prefer it to smell "clean" (not like a hospital) and not like I'm at a produce stand- just fresh. Okay, I'm officially losing it here. haha

Ah, OK...gotcha. I don't really keep track of how many times I wipe after spritzing it on, and/but I always fog the surface with my breath before the final wipe.

Full strength, though if the panel in question is kinda wet that residual water will factor in. Never really notice a juge diff in that case though.

And you're no weirder than I am when it comes to scents I often really *like* solventy/chemical scents and many "food-like" ones turn me off in a big way.

I use fk425 full strength as well. havent tried it on a sealant yet but it seems to act a little more smudgy on newer wax.
