Best over the counter paste wax
What is the best otc paste wax for looks and durability, I am considering Mothers step 3 or meguiars gold class. Also What is the difference between nxt paste and liquid? I am confused because I still dont know if nxt is more of a natural wax or can be qualified as a paint sealant?

Re: Best over the counter paste wax
You should rethink the gold class, it is one of the least durable waxes on the market. The mother's 3 step is ok, nothing special, the wax is on the shiney side. NXT is indeed a sealant and has no wax in it. Megs #26 is probably the best overall looking OTC stuff, however 845IW is probably the longest lasting but not really a paste.

Re: Best over the counter paste wax
Thanks for the quick reply. After thinking about it, I like spending time on my car anyway and like the look of gold class paste so I may just top it over nxt. I Dont really mind waxing my car alot but one time I've seen gold class removed simply with detail spray so Im aware of how sensitive and how long it may last.

Re: Best over the counter paste wax
The new reformulated Gold Class wax (paste and liquid) is coming out in the next few months, why not just wait to get some of that?

Just keep in mind that each time you apply the NXT you'll need to completely strip off the Gold class. Nubas over sealants work great but applying a sealant over a nuba just doesn't work well. Sealants need a surface to bond to and wax is not one of them. As with all things in this business, there are rare exceptions to this rule.

LOL, this might be that exception. IF the GC is still even on there after your next wash... the NXT has cleaners in it to aid in bonding. All Meguiars LSP products can be applied on top of each other.

Re: Best over the counter paste wax
Going to try Collinite 476S over 845IW shortly. Over the counter, and very long lasting/durable.

Re: Best over the counter paste wax
I hated Gold Class wax, shine was ok for a week, then it lost its slickness really fast and by the second wash it was completely gone... Here where I am I paid $20 for it! Never again, but thanks to some research and through talks with others I found a great wax which I am very satisfied with- S100, im not sure if you can call it an over the counter wax, but its only $23 where I live and found at almost all Harley Dealerships!

Re: Best over the counter paste wax
Plus one for the 476S over 845. Especially if its paste wax that you want.

Re: Best over the counter paste wax
I have to have 2. Can't determine which is better, there both great. Meg's #26(Easily found anywhere) and S100 which I've only found at Harley stores other than online.
