Has UPGP fallen out of favor?

About a year or two ago, before I stopped my detailing endeavors, everyone (myself included!) was going nuts over this product.

Now, Dave's come out with a new product and I'm hearing the current shipments of this stuff are old bottles from 2008.

Is that the case and if so, why? From what I recall this was a fantastic product - though pricey.

I just got a 12 ouncer from Autopiacarcare and its dated july 09. I purposefully didn't order from Autogeek, as they seemed to have old stock. Its still a great product. I got my 12 ouncer for $32.00 on sale, the price has come down alot, not pricey anymore at all.

Agreed. After some more research it simply seemed the issues were solely associated with AG - this is not to say it is a bad retailer, I've used it a million times. Additionally, claims of the product ability are still strong. I just bit using the 20% discount, as you did. Can't wait to see how this looks on my black paint!!!

Re: Has UPGP fallen out of favor?

This is really nothing new. Something comes out and it is the hot, must have detailing item. Just think how often you used to see numerous threads about Dodo Juice Supernatural a year or so ago. How many have you seen in the past few months? Not many that I can think of. I often wonder if all the love Blackfire is getting right now will die down in 6 to 9 months? I don't know, I have never tried it but we shall see.

That is normal for a product when it just comes out. Once a product has been out for more then a year then the hype dies down and the product becomes just like many other products. That is no knock on UPGP, it is a good product, it is what I have on my car right now and I am very satisfied by its look, how well it protects my car from bird poop, bug guts and how easy my car is to wash right now.

Re: Has UPGP fallen out of favor?

I placed a comment in my order requesting a product that was recently manufactured. Heres the response from autopia-carcare.com (Which was pretty immediate might I add):

Hi Daniel,
It is manufactured on site so it is fresh!

Yours in Better Car Care,

Whats funny to me is the Blackfire Wet Diamond isn't a new product. Its been out for sometime. Only now has it seem to have gotten a lot of attention.

It's actually been reformulated a few times since it initially came out......

Re: Has UPGP fallen out of favor?

You can still buy UPGP from Ultima's own site.

Re: Has UPGP fallen out of favor?

When Ultima came out it was an exclusive product-now there are about 5 different products that use the polycharger technology. And that the product has a reported history of U nidentified F loating O bjects's in the bottles and crystalizing has probably played a role in it falling out of favor. I've read several posts where people had multiple bottles with the UFO's.

Indeed but I believe even the most recent variant is well over a year old.
