Any point in topping Blackfire Wet Diamond w/ 845?

I tried my BWD (w/ polycharger) today and must say it is quite a nice product - easy on, easy off, excellent gloss.

I topped a few panels with 845 for extra protection, but honestly, I can't tell a difference between them.

Do you think there's any point in topping the BWD w/ 845, or maybe I should jsut do 2 layers of BWD and call it a day?

This is my first foyer into sealants, so I'm not really sure.

This guy uses 845 and BWD. Looks mighty nice.

I've not used 845. So I cannot give my own opinion.

BWD does look killer in person. I just don't knwo right now if I should just do 2 layesr of it, or 1 of it and 1 of 845 - I'm looking at a panel side-by-side and I honestly can't tell the difference between them (1 with just bwd, and 1 with bwd+845)

Not necessary, but it couldn't hurt.

Just be sure to give the BWD at least 8 hours of cure time before applying another layer or topping it with anything else.

I just sealed up my personal car for the winter with just one layer of BWD...

Re: Any point in topping Blackfire Wet Diamond w/ 845?

I was torn between trying either one for my fall/winter detail. Decided on 845 because of the price point. I'm more so going for durability than anything.

Might top 845 with some Natty's for added depth.

Did not know about the 8hr cure time; thanks.

i think I'll go with 2layers of it for over the winter.

This should be rather interesting test of 845 vs BWD.

I did my dad's winter driver with 2 layers of 845.

I'm doing my winter driver with 2 layers of BWD.

I did my z06 with 2 layesr of 845 (obviously it will sit)

I'll do my 65 shleby cobra with 2layers of BWD (obviously it will sit all winter)

So this might be an interesting to test to see come spring, which lasts longer in just sitting for 6mths, and getting driven in snow/salt/slush/crap/etc... for 6mths.

Definitely report back. This is my first winter with 3 series. Although it's not quite a daily driver (8 minute drive to commuter parking lot), it does sit outside.

I think you are wasting your time/product topping BF with 845. BF is slick as all get out and looks great, why would you need 845? Even in detailing, there is too much of a good thing.

I would just do 2 coats of BF. IMO 845 doesn't have the slickness of BF and by topping it you lose out on that. You should see 4-6 months protection from the BF anyway.

Re: Any point in topping Blackfire Wet Diamond w/ 845?

You guys make an excellent point about the slickness - I did notice when running my hand over the panel the BWD was super slick, but 845 was slickish, but not in the same league. Visually couldn't tell a difference, so I wasn't certain if it was in my mind or not.

Okay, 2 coats of BWD it is! Btw, I love the gloss BWD gives. If it lasts as long as it's supposed to (especially with the polycharger), I'll be stocking up

Re: Any point in topping Blackfire Wet Diamond w/ 845?

i think topping with 845 adds extra protection that sealants dont really offer(like birdcrap and waterspots). i doubt it would add to its looks much though. i usually top off whatever sealant i use with 845 on the roor, if im doing a mid/large size suv or truck. seems to work for me, and its cheap and fast too so its not a big deal. 845 goes on and off almost as easy as sealants.
