Optimum Power Clean-didn't know it could do this

I got a call from a dealer's body shop. A service advisor delivering an X5 to a customer after service ran through some paint in the road. The dealer's body shop doesn't typically do overspray removal, instead farming it out to Paint Overspray Specialists (a nationwide franchise that pretty much only does overspray removal). However, he hasn't been able to get a call back from them for the last 6 months so I got a call from them requesting assistance.

After washing the side of the X5, claying was ripping right through the paint splatters, leading me to believe it was probably house paint instead of road paint. However, the clay really wasn't doing much to the trim, especially the trim under the doors. Using my thumbnail was slow go and wasn't getting it out of the pores.

The service manager of the body shop was already sure the trim would have to be replaced but I wasn't ready to give up. I liberally sprayed the trim with Optimum Power Clean, dipped a stiff plastic bristle brush into the ONR bucket and scrubed the area down. OPC tore through the paint very quickly and was even getting the paint out of the pores. On the side molding, I was able to simply spray a damp MF towel and using a little pressure, remove the paint. The service manager was so happy he insisted I add $50 to the bill I gave them.

Optimum REALLY makes great products. I love everything I have from them, the metal polish is amazing too.

Re: Optimum Power Clean-didn't know it could do this

Itd be interesting to know if another APC offering from a different company would have been as effective.

Scott, just going by what you remember of both products at separate times, would you say that OPC is stronger overall than Meg's APC and APC+?

Wow - I don't know what's more amazing? The product or Scott doing dealer work?

OPC looks like a good product. Does it work on tar too?

Never used Meguiars APC. No idea how well it works.

Dave-as long as a dealer is willing to pay my normal prices, I'll do the work. Basically, they were looking for someone to take care of the occasional overspray removal requests they get. Mostly going to be a referral deal, not necessarily doing work for them.

OPC seems to work on pretty much anything.

Great stuff! I just got a gallon of it based off a few others reviews. I've got a C350 with brakedust galore sitting in the garage that I begin working on tonight.

Cool - I'm just about out of my APC & I'll give it a try. Looks like good stuff.
