When it comes to detail sprays, I have tried a lot of them and I love z6 and z8. z6 does a great job at cleaning and activating the paint getting it ready to be sealed with a wax, sealant, or z8.

Z8 does an amazing job at giving great overall gloss and great protection. I love the fact that it doesn't leave clumpy layers after months of use like some protection detail sprays.

I make all my customers buy them and they all love them.

I wouldn't bother applying a sealant and then putting the Collinite over top of it; I'd just use one or the other.

As for the looks, while I'm the guy who sees a difference between #16 and 476S, and yeah, my wife saw it too, that was one very specific set of circumstances. FWIW we can both spot most *any* change on that particular car.

99.9% of the time I'll adamantly insist that if a vehicle doesn't look good, it's *NOT* because it has Collinite on it instead of some other LSP.

On the beads-that-sit-there issue, I find that the machine application, combined with the pseudo-spitshine using a good carnauba-friendly QD (e.g., Griot's SpeedShine) can result in beads that are more spherical and *barely* contact the paint. These rounder beads roll off a lot more readily too. Applying #16 this way, I can't say I see a difference (in how the beads behave/leave spots/etc.) compared to Collinite. But of course the prep has a lot to do with this too...

For info on how to *really* spitshine, search for a thread originated by Nick T. (gone but not forgotten).

The pseudo-spitshine is pretty simple. I oughta do a thread on it sometime, but here goes a short version: spritz a *small* amount of LSP-friendly QD (preferably *chilled* QD) on the panel, apply the LSP via machine, working it until the QD is gone and there's just a light film of LSP residue left. Buff out per usual.

Don't use too much QD or too much LSP. Don't press hard with the machine while applying.

By "LSP-friendly QD" I mean products that'll work well together. Wax-containing QDs like Griot's SpeedShine work well with waxes, and while I've yet to try it I strongly suspect that FK425 would work *SUPER* with their FK1000P. But this is really a wax-centric technique IMO.

Back to detail sprays, so the z6 is more for cleaning lightly and surface preparation, but z8 is like adding after a wash for added protection and slickness, correct? so bird poo-z6, after wash-z8.

also, what would be a good wash for this combo, i currently have blackfire gloss shampoo and conditioner(works well with bf stuff), as well as megs gold class (havent tried).
Would it be a waste to use z7 if i wasn't using a product like z2, or is it good for using over collonite and before zome z8?

I'd use Daragloss 901 carwash since it's cheaper than Zaino. Z6 is good for light cleaning. Z8 is really used for that additional glow.

i was looking at duragloss 901, also the optimum car wash, and the no rinse. I also was browsing and saw duragloss aqua wax as a qd, what do people think of that? better for carnubas or sealants? im arranging a list of stuff i want to try haha.

edit: i would probably prefer z6 as it is cheaper 1/2 price in fact, but im using megs #34 final inspection right now and its pretty good.

The Collinite will probably bond to the BF just fine, although the BF does seem to be mighty rich in oils. I don't think I'd bother stripping it unless there was some kind of problem But I would just apply the Collinite straight, with not "spit", for the first application.

To strip you could either do the Dawn thing, or use some super-shampoo like AutoInt's "A" (with either of these I'd do it after a regular wash), or go over it with a paint cleaner or mild polish. I myself wouldn't do any of those things until the car needed a full detail, but that's just me. For that matter *I* wouldn't mess with the BF until it needed redone either.

Any good shampoo oughta work fine. I found the BF shampoo mighty harsh, didn't like it even when I was using BF on the S8, and GC didn't really impress me either (though it's not *bad* stuff)...I just use Griot's Car Wash every time no matter which LSP I'm using. An OTC alternative would be DuraGloss.

Sorry, can't help with any Zaino Qs.

I know #26 is different than #16. He was asking for a carnuba/sealant , I figured a blend and 26 fit's the bill. (polymer sealant w/carnuba)

Don't get to hype up about all the boutique stuff . I have most everything and still get great results with products like Meg's , Duragloss , FK ,.... Don't over spend , it's not worth it and you will waste a ton of money.

im tryin not to get hyped up over the expensive stuff, im looking for stuff reasonably priced that people have found to work the best (hence the title). It seems despite most peoples differing opinions about lsps, that collonite 476/915 is great and can compete with the most expensive. Im trying to make a list of stuff like this off all the stuff i need, but despite researching ahead of time, the desire to test and try more stuff will be there because its a personal preference as you can tell from the thread. I think it would be a lot better if companies had more sample sized stuff, but o well. I plan on getting some 476 or 915, i also want to try some zaino if i can get some samples, and the fk samples as well. I guess its just the hope that theres something better out there for the money.

sweetlou- If you find a good deal on the Collinite I'm pretty sure you won't regret the purchase. For ~$15 or so I just can't imagine anybody being unhappy with it.
