p21s gel wheel cleaner sucks
Just used it for the first time on my chrome wheels and it did virtually nothing. I had to go back and wash them by hand like I always do. They werent even very dirty to begin with. just 1 weeks worth of normal daily driving.
Also not impressed with the p21s car wash. The suds suck and its not very slick at all.
Oh well at least the wax itself rocks!

Re: p21s gel wheel cleaner sucks
P21 is not rated as a harsh cleaner. It's approved, etc by $$ wheels like BBS, etc.
It's gentle enough for most situations granted you let it dwell and yes, some agitation on your part is needed.

I've read about a red formula that is much better than the green. Anyone ever seen it?

I've never used it but have read nothing but very good reviews on it, well, that is until yours .
On the cars I drive I keep the wheels well sealed with something like Zaino, Poorboy's Wheel Sealant (love the smell!), Opti-Seal, or UPGP. I also follow-up each wash with some FK425 QD to keep the slickness level up. Doing this all I ever need to clean my wheels is the regular car was solution I use and the gentle agitation of my World's Greatest Boar's Hair Wheel Brush (my all time favorite wheel brush).
For nasty wheels that don't belong to me I'll use some Eagle 1 (A2Z) All Wheel and Tire Cleaner and a standard wheel brush. If I was going to order a wheel cleaner it would be the P21S Gel, but the Eagle 1 is available locally so I've never gotten around to it.

From what I've read the red is only available overseas.

Is the Eagle 1 (A2Z) All Wheel and Tire Cleaner safe for clear coat and chrome rims?

Re: p21s gel wheel cleaner sucks
Hello!
Time is the ticket with the wheel cleaner. The red one is much more active as a cleaner and is pretty good.
Also, the wash is pretty poor. Its a bit like teh Swissvax wash which i reviewed, it leaves the car looking nice but there is no cleaning power or much lube.

Yes, here is a quote from their website:
Quote:
Safe finishes include: anodized, clear coated, factory painted and chrome.
WARNING: DO NOT USE ON NON-FACTORY PAINTED WHEELS, MOTORCYCLE WHEELS, AND SOME ANODIZED WHEELS.
|
I have used it on coated rims and the insides of my chrome mags w/o any problems. I think the goal of any harsh wheel cleaner is to use it if needed initially and then keep up with the wheels so a harsh cleaner isn't needed. Used on a weekly basis A2Z may eventually take a toll on some wheels.
