A freshly Z'd car does seem to attract a bit of dust, but in my experience, it goes away after the first or second wash. Currently, the very old Zaino coats on my silver daily driver repel dust so well, I just CCD/QD the car (when it doesn't rain) once or twice a week and then give it a full wash every month. Why? Because it stays remarkable clean throughout the week. I've experienced similar results with Klasse.

As the previous posters state, I wouldn't worry about the abrasives in AIO. The abrasive content is very mild and you'll get the benefit of eliminating any bonding issues when using it as a pre-wax cleaner for KSG.

I'm new to detailing so I've been doing extensive research on the web. Net-net, I tried Platinum last night. No particular mystery here. I read and followed the directions on the bottles. WOW! The results were beyond my expectations. I had used Gold Class on my new Santa Fe and it looked "OK." After I finished application and buffing last night the truck looked "OK." This morning I was astounded! It is probably my imagination, but this morning the shine was brighter and DEEPER!

It was in the high forties last night and perhaps an hour was not enough time for the UPP to set before I buffed. This morning, however, it looks stunning.

I can't wait to put a second coat on the truck. If my research is valid, the look should improve.

I just put the third coat of UPP on my black Santa Fe. The first two were applied when the ambient temperature was in the mid forties, and I was anxious to see results. The product may not have had time to properly "cure" before removal. That said, I really liked the results. Far better than Gold Class.

This time the temperature is in the fifties and I was more patient. The results are breathtaking. I'm a believer! UPP rocks!

Just curious, has anybody had a chance to rate the long term durability of the UPP vs Klasse or Zaino?

I'd say that it will last about half as long as Klasse will. I don't think that it is too much of an issue though, since most people who use it will be applying a new layer every few weeks they really aren't going to notice any problem with how long it lasts. Not many Autopians put a product on their car and then wait for 3 months for it to fall off before they put another coat on.

Still, if its long lasting protection that you are looking for then Klasse or Zaino are better than Blackfire or Platinum. Those products protect for several months versus several weeks with BF or UPP.

I have had BF2 on my Lexus for 2 "real" winter months ( rare here in southern Va.) so far and it still beads and shines with BF2 QD'ing after washing.

The real Zaino durability ( long term) is probably not known because every Zaino user I have spoken to applies coats quite frequently to augment its lack of depth and poor surface marring covering ability.

I have not applied a layer of Zaino to my Explorer for over 3 months now. It sits outside 27/7. Those three months in Cincy have been pretty harsh also, do date have have seen 4x the normal amount of snowfall for this area. It's been covered in salt and everything else you can imagine. I have only been able to wash it about once a month becasue the temps have not been above 25 much for the last 2 months or so.

It still beads water very well, and the shine is still very good. Even under the grime.

So as far as durability goes, Zaino is pretty good in my book.

No question ShowroomLincoln that Zaino is very good in terms of durability. I was just stating that the general consensus that Zaino will last a year and BF2 and P21S 2 weeks has many factors that determine this longevity. I have gone as long as 6 weeks without re-applying P21S ( rare because it is so easy and quick to apply and buff after washing) its beading and shine after a QD'ing still appears great. Would this be the case in Cincy ( spent time in Hamilton down the road from Escort Corp

) maybe or maybe not.

From all the testing I have done around 4 months seems to be the max for Zaino in my climate. You could push it a bit longer, but not much. Klasse was around this same limit. I have not tried the "new" versions of BF or Platinum, but the old versions only lasted less than a month. I hear the new stuff has better durability, but I have not gotten around to testing it.

Waxes dont seem to do well here. I tried a bunch and never got one that was all that durable. In the summer it's typically very hot with high humidity, and the winters are cold and snowy. Cincy is a death trap for waxes.

The longest I've ever gone between coats of P21S was about 2 months. It might have lasted longer, but it was really on its last legs and the shine on the car was noticeably diminished.

As for Zaino, the layers on my vertical panels are about 10 months old and still repelling water very well. I applied a fresh coat on the horizontal panels about 2-3 months ago.

SRL, that's too bad about Cincy. LA is really "wax-friendly". I could spit on my car and it'll be protected.

Thats it!!! I need to move to SoCal so my sealants/waxes will last longer.
