Powerball Mini vs. Powerball Mini MD

I've searched and haven't seen any discussion of Mothers Powerball Mini MD. What exactly are the differences between these two products? Which product would you recommend?

This will be used exclusively to clean a set of polished aluminum wheels (not clear coated).

MD is for paint and the red one is for rims and such.

I have the red one and love it. I use #80 on my rims all the time and it does a great job.

it is yellow like the one for paint, but:

That is correct Jim. I saw a demo last August and they were using it on aluminum wheels. I didn't have time to get into specifics with the guy, but he did confirm that it has more cut than the red one when I asked.

That is my interpretation of it also. I know too much cut is bad when polishing paint, but unsure if this apply to aluminum wheels too. I'm completely new to the autopian way of life, so for aluminum wheels (not clear coated) is more cut better or worse?

I was originally going to purchase the regular powerball mini to clean my wheels but the MD one sounds like it may be better.

Advice please??

It depends on how bad the wheels are. Personally I'd start out with the red since even if you use the yellow, you'll most likely need the red to do the final polish (from the Mothers website):

"For the final finishing step on any scratch repair, use PowerMetal® polish applied with either the PowerBall® or PowerBall Mini®."

I think I picked up a red mini at Wal-Mart for about $18, I can't recall seeing the yellow ones, but then I haven't really been looking for them.
