But, it is quick compared to my old 626.

Re: Nissan GTR Assembly Line Detailing
FWIW, I do agree that on North American roads anything more than ~200hp is probably not "needed", or maybe it is, but only a fraction of the time. That said, I still like having the power available.

Re: Nissan GTR Assembly Line Detailing
GT-R is a legend on its own, I recall the 1990 models when they stopped making them.
Starting price is $69K so if I am to order one full loaded + dealer mark-up it will hit
the 85-90K territory, a super car in the making! I just wish it was at least germen
I will sure consider buying this car!
and please don't buff mine, it will be buffed better than they ever could

Re: Nissan GTR Assembly Line Detailing
I hate to say that, you could be wrong here.
GT-Rs, or known as the Godzilla, is just a few of Japanese sportscars, that is revered by Japanese, and most Asian countries in particular. Those staffs handling the build of GT-Rs are known to be fanatical, top of the line, Nissan Japan staffs. It's the same with the new JDM Civic Type R ( which my country, Malaysia, is the only authorised country outside Japan, where you can walk in at any Honda showrooms and put a booking for one, and 3 months later, voila! Original JDM 2007 CTR. ), whreby they have different manufacturing line inside the same factory, and staffs handling these CTRs are hand - picked by the very high echelon of Honda Japan's bosses.
These type of staffs don't really care much about the pay as they are handsomely paid ( well, for Jap manufacturers. Other I do not know much. ), and they are more than happy to wake up every morning knowing that they'll be working over at that red line with the words GT-R on it. These fellas have passion too.
And about these JDM CTRs, you might be surprised that these 4 doors actually can easily do 2 min 45 seconds, stock car over at Sepang International Circuit ( full circuit ). Surprisingly neutral and stiff chassis, superb torque and top end, very little body roll for astock 4 door car.

If it's an assembly line car weather it's $10,000 or $100,000 rest assured it's not perfect and they couldn't care less about someone willing to shell out that kind of money for it. 99% of the workers just care about their health benifits and a paycheck at the end of the week. I'll garuntee you (because I've worked in such places) they will not treat a $100,000 car any different than that $10,000 econobox going down the line. to them it's all just day in day out same ol same ol. And don't go fooling yourself they think any different about it because of the window sticker.

Corvettes and F-bodies were equipped with "cross-port injected" 305's and couldn't get out of their own way, and Mustangs were still sporting an oil-cooled turbo 2.0 l I4 as the hot engine, and this was before anyone had even heard of a "carbon footprint". And you guys are complaining about this...sheesh!

Just FYI, but no Corvette ever had a 305ci fuel injected motor. In fact, only for one year and only in CA-emissions trim has a Corvette ever had a 305ci motor period (1980 MY).
Also, seeing as how you can buy those cars for about $5k or less now, I think saying that a $50k car can hang with one isn't necessarily adequate.

Ehh, you can fit 4 people in a GT500, and have $30k left over to buy an AWD daily driver. But hey, just because it doesn't do it for me doesn't mean it won't sell. Time will tell if it kicks azz in the marketplace.

That logic is the same as the 500hp turbo Civic with cash left over. Yep, it'll kill some cars in a straight line but........

Poyo you are absolutely right here. and I know you are for one reason, is because when
I was in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, We had the GTR models and they are always sold out,
unless special ordered and that was in the 80's
Setec Astronomy
you are wrong here, 0-60 in just 3.5 seconds! look at the video of the debut of the GT-R
by the Nissan-NA manager.
This is no doubt a super car territory's, 3.5. My Modified BMW M6 is 0-60 in 4.2

Re: Nissan GTR Assembly Line Detailing
I think its possible that there are some people underestimating the GTR. Read about, learn about it, then post. The GTR is a fing monster. Vette Killer.
Not to mention the chassis and suspension set up. Take a look at the electronics. AWD, 480 hp, twin turbo, GTR, what more can I say. For those of you who know about Skylines and GTR's of past, the new GTR is a dream come true.

Re: Nissan GTR Assembly Line Detailing
Nissan GTR gets no respect
We just haven't had it in the USA. Unlike the Corvette, Porsche and Ferrari's which have fanatical clubs and events all of the country for generations, the GTR is kind of starting from scratch here. So give it time, when Corvette owners start wondering what those little cars that keep zooming past them are, respect will come
I just want to know what those machines are they use to buff the cars with on the assembly line, they look powerful but small
