taking scratches out of chrome?
I work at a tire shop, and some guy just bought these wheels and a week later he decided he didnt like them so he traded them in. I was just wondering if there is any possible way to take any of the scratches out of the chrome? I havent messed with polishing chrome all that much, that is why i am asking for any suggestions?
All the scratches are light, looks like they took a very dirty rag and wipped them down.
I am at work right now, so i am not able to upload any pictures right now but will try too later.
Thanks,
nick

Re: taking scratches out of chrome?
turtle- Welcome to Autopia.
AFAIK, nobody's ever found a way to polish scratches out of chrome, though some products might make them less visible. Chromium plating is just too hard to abrade smooth that way.
I have areas on the Jag where the chrome is literally worn away (from age and use) but the scratches are still there in the adjacent areas that are still plated. By the time the scratches get worn away the chrome is all gone.
A quick search on this will turn up a lot of threads where we all seemed to come to the same conclusion: marring in chrome is forever. The most interesting man in all of Autopia Land. (<--I didn't enter that!)

Re: taking scratches out of chrome?
I tryed chrome polish and it didnt do anything.
Accumulator- I have never heard anyways of taking scratches out of chrome either, but i thought i would ask.
I also just found out that the owner of the wheels took his car to a brushless car wash with the track to guide your car, lol noob. It also took some chunks of tire out also.
Thanks for your input thou
