August Entry! Dodge Ram

Well, I thought if I dont' win with this one, then I don't think I'll ever win. So here she is.

The big green Dodge 2500 that was stuck in the floodway showed up a couple minutes late. No biggie. He didn't rinse the truck. Little PO'd, but out well. Noticed how bad the interior really was. MAD! Oh well. Next thing I know, I was on the street for 2 hours, blasting the mud off of the truck. It was a nightmare to say the least. Wheel wells alone too me close to 1 hour. Never again am I doing a truck like this.

Exterior was interesting, interior was scary, engine bay was ugly. The job went from 8am, to 8 pm. Nice long job to say the least.

Look for this one in next month's extreme detail contest.

Exterior processes:

Wash 2 times. Pressure wash mud off.
Clay with 2 clay bars. Red paint all over bottom of the truck
Polish with SSR 2.5 to remove hard water spots
Final polish with #82.
Topped with NXT.
Trim got some Trim Restorer
Chrome got Blue Magic, yes blue.

Interior involved a hell of a lot of scrubbing.
Topped with Wolfegang conditioner.

Engine bay was just sprayed down with armor all. Too much crap in there. I'll let the owner worry about frying some components with high pressure water.

Before:

After remembering I didn't take before pictures, so there is some slight degreaser sprayed on.

Don't post yet, still have some before/afters. and then dedicated afters.

After claying:

(Yes, those water marks were actually in the paint.)

This was all after the wash and clay.

After photo of the red paint and tar:

Before and after of the door panel.

The shiny stuff inthe speaker grill looks like mud, but its just reflection from the flash.

Rest of the dash done, carpet still not touched.

Some staining in the carpet wasn't coming out, and the carpet was still drying.

Engine bay after:

The staining inthe foam that looks discoloured about the engine is permanent. I could not get it clean.

If you know the paint's going to be all swirled up, are you tempted to run it through the gas station car wash first before digging into a job that muddy?

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Hopefully this guy won't enter! You'll lose again as will everyone else. Cleaning a muddy truck doesn't mean you'll win

Good luck

I agree with Spilchy, don't count your chickens before they hatch. I voted for you in July but if the other guy enters the competition it will be little tough. Just keep doin' what you're doin' and you're turn will come...it always does.

Good Luck!!!

Good. Lord. How do you do it? Yet another awesome detail and turnaround! I wonder what you'd have done without a pressure washer.

You get my vote.
