Well I posted this in the Click and Brag, but I'll delete that one if anyone wants me to.
Yesterday I detailed the blazer after it was covered in acidic chemicals. Pipes burst at my father's place of business, and they sat there for a couple of days.
The paint was eched horribly, and trim was faded and discoloured. Tires somehow were turned brown by the chemical, which sort of frightens me, since I don't know what it was. I just hope it didn't cause any damage to them, other than discolouring.
Detail went as follows:
Washed with strong industrial soap, to get all the stuff off of it. Not sure what it was, so I wanted to be safe.
Clayed with Mothers Clay bar. I didn't notice any difference in the paint. So I was kinda scared as to what damage was there.
I wiped out he polisher, and tried some SSR 2 on a LC cutting pad. Didn't touch it.
Now I really started to sweat.
Moved up to some SSR3 and began to polish with a LC polishing pad.
Hazing was still there, so I wanted to get rid of that of course. So I switched to SSR 2.5 on a LC cutting pad, which made quick work of the haze.
SSR1 on trouble spots, and the paint was looking great.
Cleaned the surface with Klasse AIO, and then topped that with
NXT on a polishing pad at 2.
Trim:
The trim was a real pain, as much of the dirt was actually eched into it. Wasn't able to remove it all, but it looked drastically better.
I used some degreaser and such and scrubbed the trim. Then topped with Poorboys Trim Restorer and Natural shine in some spots.
Glass:
Glass wouldn't come clean when washed, so I had to polish it with SSR3. Still isn't the greatest, but its a major improvement as to what it was.
As far as learning anything, well I learnt to never let people drive it.
Pictures in the next post as this one is super long as it is.
