Poll - Speed when accessing Autopia?

We have sometimes some very large pics posted. I was just wondering what kind of impact this may have on the community. Well, to get an idea I thought to start this thread. When I'm work I get to access our LAN/WAN and the privileges that entails. When at home I do the cable modem thing on a home network.

Full Speed!

Autopia has a large network pipe. We don't even come close to using 30% of the available bandwidth at the peak hour of the day.

At work I'm on a T1. At home it slows down to a meger 28.8 kbps because area sucks and high speed access isn't available. Grrrrrrrrrr.... I gripe about my slow connection all the time but on Autopia it doesn't really slow me down much. Its obviously a little faster at work, but 28.8 isn't so slow that Autopia doesn't work. There are some boards I can't go to on my dialup because I would just end up waiting all day for the pages to load up. Autopia is safe at any speed though. Believe me, I've been connected at all speeds too. lol

My situation is the same as Jngr's -- T1 at work, 28 or 31 dial-up from home. There are some pages that just freeze up when I'm on dialup, such as the thread with all the "self-reflection" pictures. So I just skip those.

Hey, its sad but true. If I lived one block east then I would have it. If I lived on the other side of the street to the south then I would have it. I have no idea why I can't get it where my house is located. Its not something I expected to run into when I moved here last year. Even my dialup was faster before I moved here and I had cable access. I didn't have a garage though. I'll sacrifice high speed for the chance to park my car in a garage every night. I don't spend much time at home online except for Sunday night anyway.

its true, i had DSL and got rid of it. It was slower then dial up for me. I was too far away from the loop link. Mean while the person next door to me was able to have DSL. In a way i am glad, cable modem is soooooo much better.

I've heard of that happening to people. But garage access is a worthy trade off.

Sounds like a wireless repeater opportunity
