Re: classifieds suggestion

My two cents: Many forums do not allow those type of posts at all. In my opinion David is pretty generous with it's current rules and setup. With that said, I did like it better the old way.

Me, too! We made the change because the Moderators and I felt we were spending too much time policing the classifieds because the scammers, spammers and shills just won't give up. To get it all to stop, we yanked classifieds out of a threaded forum and prevent noobs from posting links until they get 10 posts under their belt. Now, the Moderator job is easier and we rarely see a spam post (if you saw how many get stuck in the Moderator queue, it would scare you ).

Now, in no way to I want to prevent members from selling and swapping their stuff. I think it's great.

Work with me so I can make it better for the community (not the scammers and spammers) and not make it worse for the Moderators.

Re: classifieds suggestion

I dunno, is there a way to have a spot only people who have so many posts or have been a member so long can view?

Re: classifieds suggestion

Anything can be custom programed. Cost vs. reward. In any case, why limit who can see and buy from you. Autopia daily "guests" outnumber "members" 4:1. Lots of lurkers come here just to get information, not to chat.

WOW, that is an interesting ratio. I had no idea...

Re: classifieds suggestion

Why not just have a classifieds section just for detailing related stuff in the forum section and the rest left to the classifieds section?

Re: classifieds suggestion

I think it would help to make it a bit more visible. I mean, who actually LOOKS at the stuff at the top of any forum?

I think it would be a lot more popular and helpful if it were more visible and getting more traffic.

Re: classifieds suggestion

There IS a classified section but when someone posts items for private sale elsewhere it does not get moved to the correct section. I have turned in many that were not in classifieds and nothing happens. They remain where they are, do not get moved to the correct area so why even have one....especially if "turned in" posts are ignored????

I do agree with others that the "classifieds" section at the top of a page is all but non existant. Put it in bold print as large as "click & brag" would be to have it seen. Currently it is waste of space. Either do it right or delete it entirely.......and no I don't have anything to sell.
