David Fermani- Hey, it never clicked for me when you mentioned MicroMesh in that other thread, but *now* I'm with you! Yeah, I've used those (but not on vehicles).
The pads seem just a *little* softer/more flexible that I'd usually like for this, and I suspect you have to be a little careful not to get the "finger trough" effect by pressing too hard/the wrong way.
I thought I had the swabs around here too, but I haven't found 'em yet...
buffer barry-Yeah, I bet you *do* have a lot of interfaces, what with all the sanding you do.
I remembered the lighter thing because I was thinking it was probably a Zippo and that the panel must've been nice and flat for that to work OK.
advs1- Good thinking. I woulda thought the inner tube woulda been too thin.
Jakerooni- I bet you'll find that if/when you try it you'll be *so* careful that it won't be a real issue. I mean, you're really experienced at this stuff and you have the right concerns in mind; if *I* can do it without causing a big valley I'm sure you can do it even better.
This is where the "feathering to the outside of the area being sanded" comes in; there's *some* effect like you're concerned with, but not that bad unless you botch it up (BTDT too

). Consider that even when you use a block/other interface, there's always an issue like that with any spot-sanding.
