Re: New Griots Glass Cleaning Clay

What makes this clay so special that it's marketed for glass than your basic run of the mill clay?

This denser detailing clay
Sounds like its more dense? But not exactly sure what that means. And you get color diversification....

According to Griot's Garage, the increased density is better than softer clays for removing bonded contaminants from glass.

Yeah right - that makes no sense what so ever. Smells like marketing smoke & mirrors to me. Next they'll have a clay for fenders, and another for hoods, and one for black paint and one for white and one for metal and one for fiberglass. I guess their products are geared towards newbie consumers? Don't see many mentions of them on here.

Re: New Griots Glass Cleaning Clay

Maybe what they mean is just that it's more aggressive than their regular clay. They might be trying to avoid terminology that could raise a red flag for some users

The one thing I can' help but mention is the use of SpeedShine as a clay lube; while I *really* like SpeedShine, I find that *for me* the wax/etc. content seems to compromise the effectiveness of the clay a bit much for my taste. Not sure if anybody else would feel that way though...

I feel the exact same way about the clay lube, I think it could definitely compromise the ability of the clay to a certain extent. Maybe it's different for glass.

I think the clay is just much more aggressive, makes sense since glass is rock hard and you won't have to worry about marring.

Right. But I'd be a little leery of that idea of using it on chrome, since scratches in chrome are pretty much forever.
