Hmmm...I wonder how a comparison between the latest generation of such polishers would go; there are a few to choose from these days.

I'm guessing that the Griot's takes the "standard" backing plates, right? I can almost remember the size of the threaded stud...maybe 5/16"

Griots polisher now will take the standard DA backing plate made by Lake Country.

Hey I saw one of those last weekend at the Tampa meet! Maybe UFgatorEE can tell us how they work.

can you only use 6" BP's or can you change a counterweight and use smaller BP's and pads?

I don't see why you'd need to change the counteweight. Using the larger weight with smaller pads never posed a problem with my PCs.

Re: New & Improved! Griots 6" Polisher

I have used this machine a lot in the recent weeks. Here are a few of my opinions on it.

Good

-It is a completely different animal then the old Griots machine. Much more powerful it is a very nice machine and way better then their old machine.
-Does not vibrate near as much as my PC. Much smoother operation.

Bad
- the BP that comes with it does not seem very durable. I had a car that needed heavy correction. While applying a lot of pressure against the machine while buffing a car the BP started to tear away from the mounting. Given the machine is probably not built for the abuse i was giving it that day.

Overall this is a very nice machine that i would recommend to anyone.

Dunncsu- Thanks for posting that review!

Sounds like you need to start shopping for a new backing plate or two
