Coastal Tool, like most other tool distributors, deals on year-end rebates. In other words, they make their profit at the end of the year when Black & Decker hits them back with 5-10% and other concessions. They can do this because they add NO VALUE to the machine. NONE. Have you ever tried to get assistance on the phone beyond seeing if the tool is in stock or doing a return?

Autogeek, and all of the other sponsors/vendors on this forum, need to make their profit when the machine is sold. The only way to do this is to charge the proper amount.

By the way, the MSRP on this machine is much higher than $129. The tool discounters have driven the price down to the point that people expect to buy the tool at distribution cost and then complain loudly when they can't get service when it breaks. It's ridiculous.

Thanks for sharing - I have a Porter-cable service center just about 20 minutes from my work, so I'm good on that aspect, but from what I have seen from PC I highly doubt I'll need it. It's there if I do though. I've not seen anyone address the apparent pricematch issue that I brought up, but it's neither here nor there at this time, perhaps next go-round I'll get to go with AG.

wouldn't know - didn't look. I've bought from a couple of the sponsors here since I registered, so I don't feel its a real big deal.

one thing nice about supporting a sponsor (AG, DI, DD, etc) is there obviously part of this community and you'll get quicker and better customer service as well. who wouldn't want to give their money to someone who shares the same passion as you...

Re: New at Autogeek Porter Cable 7424XP Dual Action Polisher

I have ordered a ton of stuff from AG, and it is perfect every time. Even with the shipping to Alaska, I know that I can order as late as Tuesday morning and still have it on Friday. It's like clock work. And the one order that there was a MINOR mistake, they of course took care of it with a smile on their face (which gave me one).

My brother bought his flex from DD, and there was a shipping mistake. But they took care of it so freaking quick. Freaking amazing!

I just did my first order with DI, and they did a fantastic job as well. Although I wish they would have a system to ship out USPS everyday on their website (FedEx to Alaska is pricey).

Point is, all of the sponsors here rock!
