Flex 3401 Edge Adapter

Hey guys, i picked this up...im wondering though, the backing plate sits awfully close to the metal housing on the Flex 3401, can i expect to have rashing or shredding of the backing plate due to abrasion? Sure hope not, if thats a worry, any ideas on a modification to separate it a little bit?

Re: Flex 3401 Edge Adapter

Um...it's the standard Flex BP with an Edge adapter built in...it should "sit" in the same place the original BP did. That being said, some members did have problems with the felt ring chewing up the plastic BP, and many are lubricating the felt now.

Re: Flex 3401 Edge Adapter

Thanks setec for responding...i feel mine sits closer to the metal housing than my original..and i was one that had rashing problems. I ended up putting a couple of washers between the backing plate and where the backing plate attaches to the unit. I know for a fact that it will be rubbing because i saw the oil marks on the backing plate where i had lubricated my felt ring...do you think i will still have rashing issues?

Heck, I dunno, you appear to know more about it than me. Both my Flex and my Edge adapter are still in the box. Sorry.

It will sit very close, but it should not be rubbing.
