Montana Brushes

Is there a difference between the hairs on the Montana wheel brush vs Car wash brush?

Just wondering if i could use the wheel brush on the paint as a dedicated "car wash brush" and still be safe?

Re: Montana Brushes

Autogeek says they're slightly stiffer: "We chose slightly stiffer hairs from a more mature animal than what you’ll find in our boar’s hair wash brushes. The increased firmness makes the bristles more effective at removing the tough grime that coats wheels, like stubborn brake dust. The hairs are thoroughly cleaned before being attached to the handles."

8 inch Montana Original Boar’s Hair Wheel Brush

I use a different brand BHB for my wheels so I can't comment on if the Montana's are paint safe or not. I've never considered using my wheel BHB (I do have one unused on wheels) on the paint, perhaps because I have a normal (softer) BHB for washes when I decide to use it.

Re: Montana Brushes

Random thought: most wheels are clearcoated these days, but the clear on wheels is usually a bit tougher than regular clear.

I would imagine so because the brush I use on my wheels has not made a single mark on the paint, but I would never dare use that brush on my paint.

Keep your fingers crossed, and keep inspecting the tips of your bristles.

I was quite happy with a synthetic-bristle wheel brush, right up until the flagging wore down on a few bristle tips and it marred a set of modular BBS wheels so badly that I had to get 'em refinished. That $20 brush ended up costing me a fortune...
