Re: Lexus RX 300 and IS 350 details

Lexus IS 350-Owned by a good friend of mine. This is the one that I drove for a session at Road Atlanta last fall. About 14 seconds slower then the laps I used to turn in my old 01 Z06, but still very fun.

The owner runs it thru a touchless wash 1-2 times a month. I did a hand wash and vac on it in late March. So that was the last time the wheels had any serious attention.

Interior after vac:

Mats after vac:

Interior process same as the RX 300:

Clean all surfaces and leather with AM777 APC 1:10 MCME/Steamer assist.
Wipedown all surfaces with 1Z CP
Clean leather again with Z9 and apply Z10.
vac carpets and mats twice.
Pretreat carpets with citrus solve on grease/tar spots. Untra pac on the rest.
Extract (mytee 8070) carpets and mats with dry slurry.
Glass with IG.

On these mats I first did a pretreat with citrus solve, extracted then while still wet I did a pretreat with ultra pac and extracted again. This process seemed to work better. The jug holds what came out of the extractor after all the carpets where done.

Took just under 2 hours to:

Clean wheels PB SnR x2 on fronts and 1x on rears. Still needed to do a slight scrub on the fronts with one of the bug sponges. They work great on wheels. I am gonna cut on of them down to use on wheels. I'd say that SnR took off 90% of the dust from the front wheels on the first time.

Spray PB Bug squash on the front and lower rockers. Use bug sponge to clean all areas. Gets everything clean quick. All tar and bugs gone. Don't forget to keep your bug sponge very wet. I do a small section and keep re-dipping the sponge in my bucket of soapy water.

Clean tires, easy since they are pretty new. Clean wheel wells. Both with AM 777 APC.

Wash with Z7 2x over every surface.

Soap up car again with Z7 from sheepskin wash mit and clay. Good amount of bonded contaminants on horz surfaces. Painted areas behind front wheel wells had bonded brake dust contaminants.

Quick wash again.

Dry including wheels and door jambs.

Very light swirls as you can see.

Exterior only had minor swirls, so I figured I would try out my new light cut blue edge wool pad. The blue wool would not cut the slight water spots
on the horz surfaces.

Polished horz panels with green wool/ZPC/Metabo 1500 to remove some water spots.

Polished all surfaces with blue wool/ZPC/Metabo 1500. This setup was very smooth for sure. Brought out a nice gloss in the paint.

This door panel was only polished with blue wool/ZPC/Metabo 1500:

I then polished half of the car with green edge wave 7" pad/ZPC/Metabo 1500. I took the car out and sure enough, slight holograms from the blue wool on the side that was not polished with the foam yet. I could only see them on the hood at a certain angle from the sun. So back in to polish the rest with the green foam.

I then polished all the glass with ZAIO, blue 6" edge wave pad, metabo 1100.

Applied ZAIO to the wheels, even though they looked clean the zaio was still pulling dirt from the wheels.

Applied Z2pro to the wheels.

2x of ZFX'd Z2pro to the paint/glass.

Z8 to the paint, glass and door jambs.

Z-16 for the tires.

Megs NXT metal polish on the exhaust tips.
