Here's my little demo, wet sanding my trunk with 2000 grit.

Basic steps were:
Wetsand with 3M 2000 grit
Meg's #4 Heavy Cut with wool pad at 1800 rpm (2 passes)
OP white pad on UDM (2 passes)
Topped with DG #105
