Talking We got to play with Ultima on Saturday!

San Diego PCA & Autopia Car Care hosted an all day tech session on Saturday.

David used the event to preview the brand-new 'Ultima' line of products, due to be released to the market in June.

As you may know, these products bring some new sealant technologies to wheel & trim prep, paint prep, paint sealant, interiors, carpets, and will eventually include non-auto finishes such as fine furniture, aircraft etc.

They were so new - most of the bottles didn't even have labels yet!

We got a donor 986 from a PCA member, and under David's instruction, we went to work with the new products.

New shampoo had super suds which had excellent staying power

We then went on to clay the car - but not with a clay bar!

This new product is an easy to hold foam block, with a 'rubberized' surface on one face. This face was the 'clay bar'.

Worked with a gel lube, or with normal soapy water - and was easy to use to clay the car to a smooth finish.

Best of all, the pad is washable - so if you drop it, you simply wash off in your suds bucket, and you;re back in business!!!

With the paint smooth, we were now instructed on how to correct any blemishes using a random orbital, swirlbuster spot pad, and a suitable polish.

Here's Tom taking out a scratch on the fender

After scratch correction, David broke out his new higher powered random orbit polisher, a new firm polishing pad and the new polishing product from the Ultima range to polish the whole car.

With polishing complete - it was time for sealant - this was the easiest sealant to use that I've ever seen - you wipe on with a towel and just walk away!

Nothing to buff off, you simply wipe evenly all over the paint and leave it.

Over the next 6 hours it just gets slicker and slicker - and is said to last for months.

And the result:

A very very pleasing transformation for the donor owner, and a great lesson in detailing for the attendees.

Everyone was impressed with the new product range, especially the ease and speed of use.

Only one thing left to do - we got a tour of the warehouse and the chance to exercise some retail therapy

Great event - Thanks David - and nice to meet some fellow detailing enthusiasts</div>
