Yeah, I agree...the "gentle shove" of some big-bores is a lot easier on me than some hotter smaller calibers. Even a really hotted-up ++P load in a 9mm can get your attention, let alone in a lightweight gun.
A standard 9mm *is* a nice gentle shooting load in a full-size, all-steel gun though. The old SIG 210 comes to mind for those who don't like the Colt/Browning models.
And everybody's different in how they experience this stuff too, my wife once said (referring to hardball in her .45 Govt. model): "recoil? Nah that's just muzzle flip". She's put a *lot* of rounds through hers, and it just never bugged her, even after hours on end non-stop.
