Re: Good hand guns

I notice most are pointing you to semi-autos, have you considered a revolver? In my younger days before the wife and kids I had a pretty extensive handgun collection. My faves were a Springfield Armory 1911 that was breathed on by the Springfield Custom shop and a stainless Ruger GP100 .357 with a 6" barrell. I have to say that for home defense and plinking I would probably take a revolver over a semi-auto. In my case I was a far more accurate shooter with the bone stock Ruger GP100 than I ever was with the Springfield Armory 1911 even after the customizing.

Right now the only hangun I have is a Taurus 617. It is stainless, 2" barrel, 7 rounds in .357. I keep it around as it is pretty much a point and shoot handgun. I keep it in a safe fully loaded with .38 rounds as it is easier for the wife to handle with the lighter rounds. I have been in the market though for another Ruger GP100.
