The foam on the plate where it tore apart.
Reading a story similar to yours a couple of years back (can't remember the brand of BP involved) made me order a spare BP just-in-case. I use a
Meg's 5" BP w/o any problems, but I have read about them coming apart too. The spare I bought came from Exceldetail, but I haven't had to use it yet. I really think the LC's are decent BP's so a replacement should do fine. Bob might have a recommendation on what to replace it with, I'm sure he sells a lot of those so he should have a better idea of their track record in real world use.
