I had a little QDing to do today on my Klassed
SG x5 truck. So I decided to try a simple test. I did one half of the hood with FI and the other with Mother's Showtime QD. The method was identical for each product. I've panned the Mother's in the past in favor of the FI and I like the smell of the FI better so I was surprised when the results of my little test revealed the Mother's side was slicker. When wiping a clean towel across each finished surface the Mother's side created noticably less friction.
Ok well I learned something but it also raised another question. What's in the Mother's? Is it wax that is making the difference? If so I don't want that on my paint when it is time to layer more SG.
How can I identify the ingredients in a car finish product? I guess that I could request the MSDS sheets from companies to try to find out more about the products ingredients. However I have seen many MSDS sheets that actually tell very little about nontoxic ingredients.
Meanwhile I going back to review the QD threads so that I can broaden my horizons for quick detailing products with an emphasis on QDs without wax.
