You're not off the hook.

To my understanding, in CT, "no points" does NOT mean the insurance company will never find out.

Sure, by paying the ticket for the red light violation, you are effectively pleading "no contest" and the DMV spares you the points on your license. BUT regardless of whether or not you are issued points, the CT DMV keeps records of ALL tickets issued and paid (3 yrs for minor, 10 yrs for major) ... and you can bet your butt that your insurance company will find out at next renewal time when they check the DMV records.

It's different in states like NJ, where insurance companies just look for the number of points on your record.
