You're right - black is insane. I have many many clients with black cars - so I feel your pain. And you're right, they seem to be much more susceptable to chemical etching (bird poop, water spot, etc.); I think it must be because the paint gets so hot in direct sunlight, expediting the process/problem. And of course, there are the inevitable scratches - you can only minimize the problem.
