Between the two you can get an idea of what level abrasiveness goes with what color of pad.

In general folks here recommend that if you need to do any defect removal, start with the least aggressive product/pad combo you have in your arsenol and work your way more aggressively as needed. You can just do one small section of the car and keep checking results until you find the pad/product that is working well.
