Yes Ultrasuede, and it's competitor Mochasuede, is a nonwoven microfiber fabric, it is not woven like tradional fabric but actually made with a process similar to paper making. It was first introduced in the 1970s. It is still made today by Toray Industries but is not as popular as it used to be. At one point the designer Halston made his career on this fabric in the 1970s.

I have a roll or two of this stuff and considered using it to upolster my car seats but it wears down and shines up too easily.
