Because it was my first time using the polish and I wasn't used to how long it took to break down so I had to redo areas a couple of times. Also when doing the vertical panels everytime I moved the light stand I found more swirling. There was also a 1/2 hour break in there for dinner and time for taping off trim and such. I wasn't really in a rush either. The reason I used a 4" pad is because I use smaller pads for defect removal no matter how big or small.
