I had my '59 Plymouth Belvedere (in 1973) up to 117. That was with the pedal to the metal on the NY Thruway. Might not sound so swift by todays standards, but cars back then didn't have the technical marvels that stabilize todays auto's. Just shocks rockin and rollin all the way. It felt like I was about to take off...and with the wings on the car, it might have if it went any faster!
I had the bimmer at 120 on the Florida Turnpike the other day and it felt like I was doing 60..... I guess the engineers have made some minor adjustments to the suspension....
