Thanks for the replies everyone, quite enlightening. Let me clarify a point though, I am 100% sure that the rust spots were the result of fallout from work I was doing in and around the garage involving a grinder and the new posi rear end sitting on a pair of jackstands (airborne metal particles). I did have to pull the4 car out of the garage for a few days during this work where the car got covered in dew (moisture).
Airborne metal particles + moisture = rust spots. I clayed the car and it cleaned up fine and there does not appear to be any other paint damage.
But there are several lessons learned from this;
1) Metal grinding anywhere near the car in the future is a no-no!
2) The Chroma One paint is a very hard finish. I can use my rotary on it (I am proficient with a rotary having used them for over 20 years) but would like to avoid the rotary and wonder whether a PC would be sufficient for this type of paint?
3) A good car cover is going to be well worth the expense, but I would like to hear of anyone's opinion on a good, breathable, non marking cover.
As a side note, this car is garaged almost 8 months out of the year, it doesnt see rain or winters here in NY.
