Superbee answered most of it. I use a towel wrapped around the head with no bristles. I have even found this to cause damage on occasion. Unless the bristles on that head are soft, he damaged the coating. One other thing, the seat becoming a lighter color doesn't mean it is clean. I have noticed that after steaming the leather it becomes a lighter shade. It will return to normal after several minutes.
