What exactly is wrong with it? It's hard, cracked, or fading?

It's most likely something that requires a very specific recoloration/crack filler, which you can do yourself by cutting out a small square from some unnoticeable spot and sending it into Leatherique I believe, and they will match it for you, and send you crack filler, rejuvenator oil, and dye specifically for your seats.
