Re: Rechargeable Razer

I have two Braun 7000-series razors, a 7570 and a 7540 that I inherited one from my dad. Both are pretty old, and maybe the current versions are better, so with that disclaimer:

They work OK but the "better" (scare-quotes intentional) 7570 starts to slow down after just a few shaves, so I end up recharging it frequently which probably makes the problem worse (memory-effect and all that).

The 7540 keeps cutting at a high speed for many shaves and is the better of the two for that reason.

Maybe my 7570 is defective..I keep meaning to take it in for a new battery pack but I never get around to it.

I do prefer them to a blade and to the other electrics I've tried, but that's just me and I don't shave too close (ingrown hairs/etc.), preferring to shave twice a day if necessary.

The auto-cleaning station is so-so. It doesn't really clean mine nearly as well as doing it manually, but the cleaning solution does keep things sorta-OK-clean with zero effort and it also lubes things OK. Smells pretty nice too. But Park's Shave-Ease (sp? They might spell it goofy) lubes well too, and it also has a nice scent.

If I were as dissatisfied with them as it probably sounds, I'd have replaced them by now, so I recommend them but with reservations.

FWIW, I tried a high-end Panasonic (almost certain that was the brand) that *should've* been much better but I simply hated it for the reasons you didn't like electrics; that surprised me but hey, IMO this is one *VERY* individual call and you can't read *too* much into somebody else's preferences.
