According to the magazine article, the only reason you'd tell (about a one night stand) is because you have the need to get rid of a guilty conscience (magazine's words, not mine!), so you put the burden on your wife (ouch!).

The article goes on to say that your best bet is to end all contact with the other woman... AND DEAL WITH YOUR GUILT ON YOUR OWN... not burden your wife with it.
