If EVERYONE can go to the doctor for free, how soon do you think you will be able to get an appointment? In England, people are waiting 6 months just to get an MRI....imagine if that was to determine whether you had cancer or not. In America, you could get it done the same day it was ordered.
If you have a plasma TV and 2 cars, you could afford to be insured. It's just a choice you have to make.

I'm not a fan of socialized medicine, but your example is a pretty narrow view of it. Wait times do tend to be longer, but if you're at risk of (using your example) cancer, you're generally not going to wait very long for an MRI. People wait a long time for non-life threatening care for sure, but cancer, heat problems etc...tend to get pushed through pretty quickly.
There have been a ton of threads about it, so I am not trying to start another discussion on it. Just pointing out that usually when you hear about long waits in England, Canada, etc... it's for issues that are not life threatening.
