Re: 40th Anniversary ZR-1 Corvette (8 Days, More Than 60 Hours!!) by RickRack...

The engine compartment and suspension were filthy and required extensive cleaning by hand. The engine and electronics are prone to damage if they get wet, so I was unable to use any water certain areas. I took a damp microfiber cloth saturated with degreaser and meticulously detailed the entire engine compartment, underside of the hood and all suspension components. I used a variety of different cloths, q-tips and brushes to get into the hard-to-reach areas that I wasn’t able to get by hand.

After the engine compartment was clean and the body was stripped of “loose” contaminants, I soaked the car in foam and let sit for about two minutes and rinsed.

I washed the entire car by hand again to remove any leftover residue that may have been leftover from the degreaser. While the car was still soapy, I clayed the entire exterior to remove any “bonded” contaminants from the surface and rinsed thoroughly.
I pulled the car back into the shop, dried the exterior and wiped the engine compartment & jambs dry with a clean microfiber towel. I then worked my way around the entire vehicle, wiping every panel with 91% alcohol to ensure each panel was 100% clean.
