%3 for paypal is the highest, weather that is on par or not depends on your frame of reference.
No credit card transaction is on an enclosed network, they all are encrypted and go over the internet. Based on what I think I know, a wireless connection would not be significantly less safe than a wired one.
In my opinion, I think paypal gives an unprofessional impression for several reasons, but the main one being that people and businesses mainly use it that have not grown to the volume to step to the next level. They also have a bad track record of screwing with people, withholding vendor's money, and compromising buyer information. They may or may not have fixed these problems. I hate using paypal and only buy things through it as a last resort. |
FYI...I've worked in the CC processing biz for 10 years now and no one will ONLY charge you 1.68 for a swiped transaction. I've worked with businesses that process millions in cc's and they pay more than 1.68 for swiped transactions. Once you understand interchange (the fees that ALL processors pay to V/MC) you'll understand how most of the advertised rates you see offered are total bs and are just deceptive ways to get you to check them out. I LOVE educating people on this stuff so feel free to ask me any questions.
