Try keeping your halogens a little further back from the section you are working on. After finishing the section, you should still be able to see the outcome with the halogens. Or, you can try to pick up a more portable light such as a 3M Sun Gun (very expensive) or Brinkmann dual LED light, or Infratech 3500 and just use it before, and then after doing each section for inspecting your work. What polishes are you using? Also, any other general comments about general temperature and environment would help to assist in ruling out other variables.
