Re: 2008 Ferrari F430 in Rosso Corsa, presented by Bella Macchina

Here I am using PO83 with a prototype Lake Country 4 inch beveled head pad to polish the tight curve of the rear bumper. This particular Ferrari has the carbon fiber rear valence that was also swirled and thus was polished the same as the paintwork.

Here is a picture of the passenger side rear quarter panel under halogen lighting. This is a close up crop of the damage to the paint, and even then it is hard to detect on this particular shade of red.

Here is the original photo.

After compounding with 3M Extra Cut and Menzerna PO83.

After totally polishing the paint I wiped the paint down again with Wurth’s Prep-Solve and re-sinspected the paint for any remaining defect under the halogen lights then looked for any hologramming with the HID light.

The paint looked perfect was ready for a final jewelling polish to ensure perfection and bring up the highest gloss possible. I prefer using a pad with little to no mechanical action and an ultra fine finishing polish. I choose Menzerna PO87mc applied with Meguiar’s So1o finishing pad to jewel the paint.

It is important not to use too much product when polishing. Excessive product will over load the pad and prevent the mechanical action that is necessary to break down the abrasives completely and ensure the highest gloss completely. Too much product can also add cause oil slinging or gum up the pad leading to gumming product smears.

With PO87mc, I like to pick up the small bead at about 1000 rpm then work the product at about 1200 rpm with slight pressure for several passes before reducing the rpm and lightly burnishing the paint with slow arm movement and no pressure for several more passes.

A prototype Red Foam bevel faced 4 inch spot pad was used in the tighter areas.

Here is a final before and after of some scratches that where likely instilled when the Novetic rear wing was bolted on.

Thanks to the polishes I used.

After finishing up the jewelling of the paint, I wiped the car down with Prep-Solve for the last time and inspected.

At this time I decided to wrap up the interior. Zaino All-in-One was choose for the carbon fiber, and was applied with a Meguiar’s foam applicator with a little bit of passion. Compressed air from my vacuum and a stepped down attachment was used with a boar’s hair brush made quick work of any dust. Since this car was brand new (390 miles) the goal with the interior was protection and preservation.

1Z Leather Care was applied to the leather to clean any dirt that my have accumulated since new and add oils to the hide. After application and removal to all of the hide (basically anything that wasn’t carbon fiber or carpet) I wiped the leather with 303 Aerospace Protectant to ensure that the owner doesn’t have to worry about UV rays when he is blasting around Florida with the top down and the 4.3 liter Ferrari V8 blasting full song at 8500 rpm.

The carpet was protected with 303 Fabric Guard.

After polishing and inspecting the paint it was time for quick wash to remove any dusting and residue from the jambs. Obviously use care when washing to avoid installing any new marring on the fresh paint, and use a wash that is compatible with the product you are planning using as an LSP. I washed with Zaino Z7 using a natural sheep skin mitt and blowing dry with a leaf blower and soft microfibers. While the Ferrari was outside, I inspected for any defects in the sunlight, the ultimate test.
